Starting Out, The Right Way?

Okay, so here is the deal: I got on the scale today and was shocked to see just how bad I have let myself get over the last 4 years. The scale read a whopping 256.2 pounds, and yes I stood on it naked, so that weight was all me! I mean, I know that I'm overweight, but I didn't know it was that bad. So I decided that I am going to change that. The only problem I have is that I really don't have any clue where to start, so I started looking it up online. Everything I read so far has me believing that I have to start with my calorie intake. So here is the plan:

Right now I guess my calorie intake is over 2000 calories a day...which is weird because I really didn't realize I had been eating that badly, especially since we don't have anything junk foodish in the apartment. Anywho, the test I took on About.com told me that I need to lower my calorie intake to 1739.3 calories a day to help me begin my slow weight-loss journey. However, I read on a lot of other women's blogs that they were doing a 1500 calorie diet...and that 1500 is the healthy limit...so I think I might try that. Oh, and drinking a lot of water! To keep track of what I eat and how much calories I am taking in, I am going to keep a Food Journal. I will be sure to write down everything I eat and the exact amount of calories it is worth, good thing there are calorie calculators and internet, I can find out the amount anywhere! lol The bad thing is that I can't start tonight...simply because I didn't pay attention to how much I ate for breakfast or lunch...and the only meal left is dinner... :( So that will have to start tomorrow morning!

I'm not going to start an actual workout routine until I get a little more settled into the whole weight-loss thing...one step at a time right? I am going to do simple things though like: Sit-ups, standing push-ups, leg lifts, toe raises, stationary lunges, wall sitting. All of which can be done at home throughout the day.

That is all for this post for tonight, if you have any tips or advice or just want to let me know what you think, please don't hesitate to comment! I will not tolerate insults though, I'm not doing this to get negative feedback, I'm trying to make a healthier me and bad comments will not help.

Thanks!!
